The most important natural values of the island are its forests and grasslands, both on the Danube bank and in the interior of the island. These areas are home to many protected species. During the project, an educational trail will be established in Szigetmonostor to present these values both to island residents and to visitors and tourists.
Environmental education is another important aspect of the project. The visitors’ centre will demonstrate renewable energy solutions and will house exhibitions on nature conservation and climate protection. A tool for calculating personal carbon footprints will also be made available to visitors.
