Habitat restoration

One of the most important practical elements of the project is afforestation. In Pócsmegyer and Szigetmonostor several sites will be afforested, comprising more than 10 hectares in total. In the context of tackling climate change, the importance of forests is widely recognised. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen and also increase humidity by mitigating the drying effects of wind and sunshine. Forests are also important habitats and integral elements of the landscape, and they provide resources for energy production.

During the project, water habitats will also be restored and grassland areas will be expanded on the island.
